Original & Custom, Decorative Wooden Display Cases / Boxes

Display Cases are boxes that display specific item(s) - memorabilia, keepsakes, collectibles, rare or expensive. A Display Case or Box is typically custom made for the particular item(s) to be displayed. A custom box can be handmade to sit on a desk or mantel, or to be hung on a wall. The box can have a hinged lid / front that can be easily opened; or made so that access is more restricted by attaching a lock or having the case / box sealed with access only from the back or underside.

A custom handmade wooden display case or display box is the perfect way to display those very special item(s).

 

Wood is warm – rich, and comes in many different colors and patterns. Wood is natural and goes well with all types of home decor. And wood is lasting – not trendy, but something that can be cherished for many years. (obviously, we are partial to wood over other mediums)

It is important that a display case / box be decorative and attractive, but more so highlight and complement the item(s) displayed. This is accomplished by carefully selecting colors, style, accessories, etc.

The above handcrafted wooden display case was custom made to display a very large gold-tone Civil War era replica knife. We custom made the pillow from a deep, royal red velvet to contrast and highlight the gold-tone of the knife, and used a saber (of approximately the same weight) to judge the thickness of the pillow.

This custom display case was made of Ash with wonderful, decorative wood grain. The wood was carefully selected so that the graining would blend from each side to the adjoining. The sides of the case / box tapered slightly outward at the top for added presentation affect. The box-joint corners are structurally superior and gives a unique decorative accent.

The handcrafted hinged glass lid was framed in Walnut with mitered corners and a centrally located ‘lid lift’. The lift was made from the same board as the opening frame, then re-attached so that the grain ran seamlessly. The underside was sculpted, as was the corresponding box side, to give a comfortable feel. The glass is actually clear Plexiglas –used for safety. And we attached decorative gold chains to give added support to the case lid in the open position.

Though not generally seen, the bottom of this custom display case was made of book-matched Walnut with beautiful wood grain. It gave the case definition and a decorative ‘shadow-line’.
